The month of October is truly one of my favorite months.

I know it’s a lot of people’s favorite–who wouldn’t love the changing of the leaves and the slight chill in the air and the smell of burning firewood and the return of pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks? Who wouldn’t love Halloween decorations or the social acceptability of eating a bite of candy corn every day (hour)? The weather’s just changing from summer’s heat to fall’s welcome cool. October is just one of the best months.

Here our my personal reasons for loving October:

  • My sister’s birthday. Nothing screams October to me quite like chocolate cake and cream cheese icing annually made in my sister’s honor.
  • Breaking out my fall clothes makes me so happy. All the cutest clothes can be worn in the fall.
  • School is in full swing. Studying, reading, writing, preparing for tests and midterms–I like a busy schedule and October provides me with one.
  • The changing of the leaves. That’s a no-brainer.
  • Football season.
  • Television shows come back. My favorites at the moment: Once Upon a Time and Grey’s Anatomy.
  • Sleeping Beauty comes out the 7th. This isn’t consistent with every October, but my excitement is too real.
  • October means that all the best breaks are approaching. Thanksgiving break. Christmas break. My heart becomes so happy by just the thought of these cozy times with my family.

Here’s to Octobers. Grab your favorite leggings and oversized sweater, sip on your favorite coffee from your favorite mug, organize your planners with all of your October engagements, and bask in the golden glow of any October afternoon. Let’s fully appreciate all this month has to offer.
